Installation Day, Hour by Hour

Most residential garage floor coatings are completed start to finish in a single day — here's exactly what that day looks like.

Before the Crew Arrives

Vehicles and loose items come out of the garage — we can help move heavier shelving or cabinets if that's arranged in advance. Anything permanently mounted, like wall cabinets or a workbench, typically stays in place and gets masked off.

Hour 0–1: Setup & Final Moisture Check

The crew arrives, sets up dust containment and ventilation, and runs a final on-site moisture check before grinding begins, in addition to the test completed at your estimate.

Hour 1–3: Diamond Grinding

Industrial diamond grinders profile the entire slab to a CSP-2 or CSP-3 rating, with dust extraction equipment keeping the space clean throughout. This is the loudest, dustiest part of the day — and the single most important step for a coating that won't peel.

Hour 3–4: Crack Fill & Detail Prep

Any hairline cracks, pitting, or damaged spots get filled and leveled. Edges along the walls and the garage door threshold are taped and detailed for a clean line.

Hour 4–5: Base Coat Application

The 100% solids epoxy base coat is rolled and squeegeed across the full slab at a consistent, controlled thickness.

Hour 5–6: Flake or Metallic Broadcast

If you've chosen a flake or metallic finish, this is when the decorative layer goes down — either broadcast at full coverage for flake, or hand-applied in swirled pigment for a metallic system.

Hour 6–7: Topcoat & Cleanup

The polyaspartic or polyurea topcoat goes on for UV stability and long-term durability, and the crew cleans up and removes all equipment and dust barriers before leaving.

After the Crew Leaves

The floor is typically walk-ready in 24–48 hours and vehicle-ready in 48–72 hours, depending on the exact system installed. We'll confirm the exact window for your specific job before we leave.
